Bihar Assembly passes no confidence motion against Speaker

Patna, Feb 12 ( UNI) Bihar assembly on Monday passed a no-confidence motion against Speaker Awadh Bihari Chaudhary through a headcount. During the headcount, 125 votes were cast in favour of the no confidence motion and 112 members voted against it. With this, Choudhary stood removed from the post of the Speaker. Earlier, Deputy Speaker Maheshwar Hajari announced the passing of the motion with a voice vote. However, at the insistence of the opposition including RJD, the Deputy Speaker announced a division through headcount. Hajari said the motion was moved under rule 110 of Bihar Assembly rules and regulations. Even before the headcount was taken up, the leader of the opposition in the state Assembly Tejaswi Prasad Yadav requested the Deputy Speaker to ask the MLC Samrat Chaudhary to leave the House during voting. Samrat Chaudhary said there was no rule for it, but even then he was leaving the House on moral grounds...////...
