Patna, Mar 30 (Reporter): Union Home Minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah on Sunday exhorted people to ensure the NDA retained power in the upcoming Bihar assembly elections to accelerate development with the active support of the Narendra Modi government. Addressing a function organised by the Cooperative department for launching a series of schemes funded by the Central and state governments, Shah said the Modi government and NitishKumar-led NDA regime have transformed Bihar which was in a poor shape during the rule of the RJD before 2005. "The era before 2005 ruled by RJD chief Lalu Prasad and his wife Rabri Devi, would always be remembered in history as 'jungle raj ' in Bihar", he said. "During the RJD regime, all sugar mills were closed down due to mismanagement and corruption," the BJP leader said, adding that the closed sugar mills were re-opened and started functioning properly after intervention and support from the Modi government. If NDA was voted to power again after the next Bihar Assembly elections, the Modi government would ensure opening of many other sugar mills in the state, he added. "People should ensure the formation of NDA government in Bihar in next assembly elections so that the state can develop with accelerated pace with active support from the Modi government", Shah said. He pointed out that RJD chief Lalu Prasad was an influential Minister during the UPA regime at the Centre, but did nothing for the welfare and development of Bihar. Shah asked Lalu to make it public how much fund he could get released from the Centre for Bihar when he was Minister in the UPA government. "I know that Lalu will not make it public so I would like to let you know that the UPA government had provided Rs 2.80 lakh crores to Bihar over ten years from 2004 to 2014. In contrast, the Modi government has made available funds worth Rs 9.23 lakh crores in ten years since 2014 ", the BJP leader said. He said Bihar haa vast fertile land and abundant water resources which could be tapped for accelerated agricultural growth. Cooperative movement had gained momentum after creation of separate Cooperative department at the Centre by Prime Minister Narendra Modi which was done for the first time in 75 years of independence. Cooperative movement would provide great benefits to Bihar having vast potential in agriculture sector, he added. Shah said Bihar was number one in the production of mushroom, makhana and Litchi. Bihar stood second in cultivation of Maize which would get a further boost with fresh assistance of the Centre, he stressed. The BJP leader said Bihar had a share of more than 30 percent in sugar production of the country which got reduced to less than 6 percent due to corruption and mismanagement of the RJD regime. the Modi government was providing all assistance to Bihar to tap its vast agriculture potential and increase the agro produce benefiting farmers of the state, he added...////...
