New Delhi, Jan 11 (Reporter) A huge haul of arms and ammunition, including 12 pistols and 30 live cartridges, was recovered near Delhi University Metro Station, and two suspected suppliers have been apprehended in the case, the police said on Thursday.
The accused were identified as Sumit (28) and Dharampal (26). They are residents of Haryana.
“Two semi-automatic pistols, along with 10 live cartridges, were recovered from their possession, and 10 single-shot pistols and 20 live cartridges of 32 bores were recovered from the bag inside their car,” the police said.
Based on specific input from its source about the supply of illegal arms and ammunition near the area of Maurice Nagar, Delhi, by miscreants, a team of the anti-narcotics cell of Delhi police conducted a raid near the place of information and laid a strategic trap.
The police noticed a suspicious exchange of colorful bags between a scooter rider and two suspects in a Swift Dzire coming from Delhi University Metro Station, Ring Road side. All suspects were identified as Dharampal, Sumit, and Anuj. Following a short scuffle, two people were apprehended, and a scooter rider (Anuj) managed to escape from the spot.
During the investigation, the accused persons disclosed that they received illegal firearms from Anuj, a resident of Meerut, UP, and were going to further supply the same firearms to Moni, a resident of Haryana.
Further efforts are underway to apprehend the identified supplier, Anuj, and the designated receiver, Moni, the police said...////...
