Dhaka, Apr 11 (Reporter) The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has written to the Border Security Force (BSF) requesting a flag meeting for the release of two Bangladeshi nationals, who were detained along the Nagorvita border under Baliadangi upazila of Thakurgaon.
The two detainees, Md Abdul Hamid, 38, of Moshaldangi Coloni village, and Md. Ibrahim, 45, are both residents of Kherbari village in the same upazila.
Lt Col Tanjir Ahmed, commanding officer of the 50 Thakurgaon Border, BGB, told The Daily Star that that the two individuals were apprehended by patrolling members of the Tingaon BSF camp in the morning around 500 yards inside Indian territory, near Pillar No 376/4-S, on charges of intrusion.
Following the incident, BGB officials have sent a letter requesting a flag meeting to negotiate the return of the Bangladeshis.
The issue of border security between the bodies has been a contentious one, as the BSF has repeatedly arrested Bangladeshi nationals who have been involved in drug or human trafficking, cattle smuggling, robbery, assault, arms smuggling, and even carrying out attacks against BSF officials when stopped...////...
