Kolkata, June 12 (Reporter) The West Bengal Police on Thursday said the overall situation in South 24 Parganas' Maheshtala area was peaceful and under control after shops and houses were vandalized in a violent group clash between two groups on Wednesday, forcing the administration to clamp prohibitory orders. "A clash between two groups occurred yesterday afternoon in Rabindra Nagar PS area and adjacent areas of Nadial PS over the location of a shop, resulting in brickbats at the police and isolated vandalism in the vicinity. " "Police resorted to the necessary use of force and dispersed the crowd. A total of 40 persons have been arrested so far in 7 cases registered over the incident.
