Dhaka, Oct 9 (Reporter) Bangladesh Ex-MP Mohibur Rahman Manik has been apprehended by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in connection with an attack on participants in the anti-quota student movement that shook the country in July-August, an official said.
Manik, an Awami League leader, was arrested on Tuesday evening in the Bashundhara residential area of the capital, the Dhaka Tribune reported on Wednesday.
ANM Imran Khan, assistant director of RAB's Legal and Media Wing, confirmed the development.
Manik is facing charges related to a complaint filed at Sunamganj Sadar police station over an alleged attack on the anti-discrimination student movement that brought down the Awami League government and forced then Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to flee to India..
Imran also said the process of handing over Manik to the Detective Branch (DB) office of Dhaka is on.
