Kolkata/Dhaka, Dec 1 (Reporter) Bangladeshi authorities at the Benapole Land Immigration Check Post have stopped at least 54 "suspicious individuals” from crossing over to India, a media report said on Sunday, even as a senior ISKCON official in Kolkata said that Bangladesh has stopped 63 ISKCON Brahmacharis from crossing into India. In late evening post on X, ISKCON Kolkata Vice President Radharamn Das said that the 63 brahmacharis of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness were prevented from crossing into India despite having valid Indian visa and other documents. He said the Bangladeshi Border Police said that they were directed by Bangladeshi Intelligence not to allow the 63 persons to enter India. “Bangladesh stops 63 Iskcon Brahmachari's from crossing into India. They had all valid Indian Visa and other documents. But Bangladeshi Boarder Police said that Bangladeshi Intelligence has told them not to allow them to enter India. Already 4 of our Brahmacharis they have arrested & now not allowing other Brahmacharis to travel to India. Please pray. #SaveBangladeshiHindus,” he posted. This came even as a media report said that at least 54 "suspicious individuals" have been barred from going to India by Benapole Immigration officials in the past two days. "They were not permitted to leave as their trip to India appeared suspicious," Benapole Immigration Check Post Officer-in-Charge Imtiaz Md Ahsanul Quader told The Business Standard Bangladesh. One of the individuals who was barred, said many of them are followers of ISKCON. "I came here to leave for India to attend a religious ceremony. I was sent back by immigration," said Saurabh Tapander Cheli, who said he is a member of ISKCON. Another individual, who wished not to be named, said they wanted to go to India to attend a religious ritual. "But we have been turned away from immigration without any reason." The developments come days after the arrest and denial of bail of Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Das by Bangladesh, which has led to rise in bilateral tensions between the two nations as New Delhi has called on Dhaka to take care of the safety and security of the minority Hindu and other communities. In the days following Chinmoy Das’ arrest, two more Hindu monks Ranganath Shyamsunder Das Brahmachari and Rudrapati Keshav Das Brahmachari were arrested from Pundarik Dham by Bangladesh Police. So far, four Brahmacharis are in jail; two were arrested when they went to deliver medicine and prasad to Chinmoy Krishna Das. Chinmoy Krishna Das's secretary has also been arrested. ISKCON Kolkata V-P Radharamn Das has been active in calling upon the ISKCON branches across the world to unite in demanding that Bangladesh release the arrested monks...////...
