Canberra, Sep 29 (Reporter) Austrians will go to the polls on Sunday to vote in a parliamentary election that is seen as a referendum on Chancellor Karl Nehammer and his ruling People's Party (OVP).
The conservative OVP is in a tight race against the right-wing Freedom Party (FPO), which is leading in the polls with a razor-thin margin.
No party is expected to win an absolute majority, which opens the door to coalition talks. Nehammer has repeatedly rejected an alliance with Herbert Kickl's FPO.
A Friday poll by Lazarsfeld Gesellschaft showed that 16% of Austrians wanted to see FPO and FPO govern together, while 14% said they preferred a three-way coalition of OVP, Social Democrats (SPO) and liberal NEOS.
