Australian policeman kneels on Indian origin man's neck, injuring him grievously

New Delhi, June 4 (Reporter) An Indian origin man was grievously injured after an Australian policeman knelt on his neck pinning him down to the ground until he became unconscious, bringing back the memories of a similar incident of George Floyd in the US in 2020. Forty-two-year-old Gaurav Kundli was with his partner when the policeman trying to arrest him, pinned him down to the ground despite Gaurav pleading innocence. He is now on life support system at a hospital with almost no chances of recovery. Reports said Gaurav was pinned to the ground even as his partner repeatedly said he had done nothing wrong. His neck and brain received serious injuries as the policeman put his knee on his neck. The incident occurred on June three on Payneham Road when a police patrol stopped after mistaking their loud argument for domestic violence. Gaurav lost consciousness after he was pinned to the ground, Australian media reported. Gaurav's partner who shot a video of the incident said she kept on telling the policeman that he (Gaurav) is not well. She requested the policeman to call the ambulance. “Doctors are saying his brain is totally damaged. Maybe he will wake up if brain works, or maybe he will not,” local media quoted Gaurav's partner as saying. Police said it was a case of domestic violence, but Gaurav's partner said he was only drunk and loud, not violent.
