Srinagar, Apr 9 (Reporter) Police on Wednesday claimed to have solved an ATM fraud and debit card theft case in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir with the arrest of two accused.
A complaint of ATM fraud was received by police via email on March 21 from Mohammad Bakir Mir, a retired government employee and resident of Chittergul.
According to the complaint, on March 15, Mir visited an ATM in Chittergul to withdraw cash but faced a technical issue. He sought help from a young man inside the booth who deceitfully swapped his ATM card. A substantial amount was later withdrawn from Mir’s account using the exchanged card.
Taking cognisance of the matter, a case under section 303(2), 318(4) BNS, was registered at Police Station Uttrasoo, and an investigation was promptly initiated.
During the course of investigation, two accused individuals were identified and apprehended from Kulgam district by police.
The accused were identified as Zahoor Ahmad Itoo and Muzamil Ahmad Itoo, both residents of Sanigam, Kulgam.
“Upon sustained questioning, both accused confessed to their involvement in the crime. Based on their disclosure, the stolen cash was recovered today,” a police statement said...////...
