Guwahati, May 27 (Reporter) In its continued operation against the drugs, the police in Assam’s Cachar district have seized heroin worth Rs. 3.5 crore during an operation and arrested one paddler. An Assam police spokesperson said this on Tuesday adding that a pistol was also recovered from the paddler. The seized drugs were recovered during an operation based on tip off given by the Assam Rifles Field Intelligence Unit, he said adding that the consignment included 648 gms of heroin. It may be mentioned here that last week, the Cachar police raided some locations near ISBT in Silchar and recovered 622 gms of heroin worth Rs. 3.11 crore. It may be mentioned here that the Assam government launched a sustained operation against the drugs in Assam in 2021 and since then recovered narcotics items worth Rs. 2600 crore since 2021.
