Arunachal celebrates 78th Independence Day with patriotic fervor

Itanagar, Aug 15 (Reporter) Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday celebrated the 78th Independence Day with patriotic fervor and gaiety. The main function was held at Indira Gandhi Park in Itanagar, where Chief Minister Pema Khandu hoisted the Tricolor. Greeting the citizens on the occasion, CM Khandu, in his speech, sought people’s support for building a ‘Viksit Arunachal’ by 2047. “The goal of building Viksit Arunachal cannot be achieved without the wholehearted support of each and every citizen of Arunachal Pradesh,” he averred. Besides highlighting the key initiatives taken by his government for the next five years, Khandu said, “We are committed to strengthening the One District, One Product (ODOP) initiative, aiming to establish ODOP clusters in all districts over the next five years to boost local economies and create employment opportunities.” On the law and order front, the CM said that the Arunachal government is committed to utilizing new-age technologies for preventing crime and ensuring scientific investigations. “We will adopt advanced technologies such as GIS, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Big Data Analytics for crime mapping and monitoring, enhancing crime prevention and resolution,” he disclosed. He also informed that his government will develop a “robust” mechanism for the effective enforcement of the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation, 1873 and ILP framework for visitors coming to the state. Besides the ceremonial march past by contingents of police and paramilitary forces, NCC cadets, Scouts & Guides, and schoolchildren, the announcement of State Awards, Drone display, tableau of sports achievers, patriotic song by department of Art & Culture, band display by VKV Oyan, martial art demonstration, mega dance etc were the highlights of the daylong celebration. Earlier in the morning, Governor Lt Gen (Retd) KT Parnaik hoisted the national flag at Raj Bhawan in Itanagar. In his address, the Governor remarked that India’s Independence Day marks the birth of the world’s largest democracy and paid tribute to the brave sons and daughters of India who made the ultimate sacrifice to secure freedom...////...
