Vijayawada, June 1 (Reporter) Former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and YSRCP President Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy lambasted the Naidu-led coalition government for doing away with door delivery of ration commodities to the ration card holders.
Taking to social media posts on ‘X’, Jagan Mohan Reddy said Chandrababu Naidu has been showing vindictive attitude towards the operators of Mobile Dispensing Units (MDUs) who were delivering the ration at the doorstep of the poor. The operators numbering over 20,000 belong to the BC, SC, ST and the minorities and winding up the door delivery system affects them and their families badly.
He questioned the government whether it is fair or do away with this system as the operators are being hit badly. The ration delivery operators were serving people even during the times of calamities and floods. Before YSRCP came to power, people had faced numerous difficulties in procuring ration and other government welfare schemes, he recalled.
“The daily wage earners will be affected as they can not forgo their work to take delivery of ration. Some of them will be forced to give up taking ration,” the Ex-Chief Minister noted.
“The poor explained their plight to me during my Padayatra. Our government introduced the door delivery of quality rice through vehicles in a transparent manner and checked malpractices. Now stopping the door delivery system, which was acclaimed nationwide, is nothing but opening the doors for irregularities and cheating the poor,” former Chief Minister Jagan Reddy lashed out.
Jagan Reddy also recalled that Chandrababu Naidu deceived volunteers by promising to give Rs 10,000 per month and cheated them, adding that over 33,000 staff of Village and Ward Secretariats were left in the lurch. The State had watered down village clinics, family doctor services, RBKs and people were facing difficulties on various fronts after the Naidu led government came to power, he lamented.
“The irrational decision of doing away with MDUs adds to the woes of the people besides jeopardizing the lives of 20,000 people and their families who were depending on the ration door delivery system. Nearly 3 lakh people, including 2.6 lakh volunteers were rendered jobless with the government act,” the former Chief Minister regretted...////...
