AP CM calls on Union Ministers in Delhi, seeks aid for projects taken up by State Govt

Vijayawada/New Delhi, Apr 22 (Reporter) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday had a meeting with Union Ministers and discussed with them various projects related to the State Government and the Central schemes. After concluding his foreign tour, the Chief Minister arrived in New Delhi on Monday night and met with four Union Ministers to deliberate on multiple matters. During his meeting with the Union Minister for Jal Shakti, CR Patil, he discussed the allocation of Central funds for the Jal Jeevan Mission scheme. Expressing the State’s intention to extensively implement this scheme, he emphasised the need for timely fund release. Naidu also briefed the Union Minister about the proposed Polavaram-Banakacharla link project, which aims at making Andhra Pradesh drought-free and made a request to support for the same. The Chief Minister outlined the benefits of the project and explained its significance to the Union Minister. Discussions were held on the Atal Bhujal Yojana programme during which he highlighted the state Government’s initiatives to improve groundwater levels and sought Central funding for the programme. Later, Naidu had a meeting with the Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, during which he discussed the establishment of a High Court bench in Kurnool. He urged the Centre to initiate the necessary procedures and extend cooperation for its setup. During a meeting with the Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal, the Chief Minister highlighted the challenges faced by the aqua sector in Andhra Pradesh due to the revised tariffs in the United States of America. He pointed out that the 26 per cent tariff imposed on Indian seafood has severely impacted the State’s aqua industry. Chandrababu made an appeal to the Union Minister to hold discussions with the US Administration to safeguard the interests of aqua farmers and suggested short-term, medium-term, and long-term measures to address the issue. Finally, the Chief Minister met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and apprised him of several key initiatives undertaken by the Andhra Pradesh Government and sought his support in their implementation.
