Thiruvananthapuram, July 12 (Reporter) Union Home Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate Kerala BJP's state office and address a meeting of BJP ward representatives at Putharikandam Maidan here today. Around 36,000 ward committee members from eight districts are expected to attend the event in person, while approximately 1.5 lakh participants will join virtually. This marks the official launch of the BJP’s organisational-level campaign aimed at expanding its grassroots presence ahead of the upcoming local body polls in Kerala. Amit Shah, who arrived here on Friday night, will inaugurate the state office at 11 am by hoisting the party flag and planting a sapling in front of the new office. He will then enter the building by cutting the ribbon and lighting the ceremonial lamp. He will unveil a half-length bronze statue of former state president KG Marar inside the central hall. Later, Shah will proceed to Putharikandam Maidan to attend the ward-level representatives' meeting, scheduled to begin at 11.30 am. As part of the run-up to the local body elections, Amit Shah is expected to announce ‘Kerala Mission 2025’ during the meeting. Interestingly, all the participants at this meeting are not the regular BJP ward officials. Following the appointment of Rajeev Chandrasekhar as state president, five specially selected members from each ward - referred to as the ‘Vikasit Team’ - will represent the party at the event. Currently, the BJP has an organisational presence in approximately 17,900 wards across Kerala. The party has set an ambitious target of winning in 10,000 of these wards. So far, the BJP has secured victories in about 1,650 wards. The party also aims to gain control of 10 municipalities, as well as the Thiruvananthapuram and Thrissur municipal corporations. After completing his engagements in Thiruvananthapuram, Amit Shah is scheduled to depart around 4 pm. On his way back, he will stop in Kannur to visit the Rajarajeswara Temple in Taliparamba before returning to Delhi later that night. Just last week, the temple witnessed the unveiling of the country’s largest bronze Shiva idol—a 14-foot-tall sculpture weighing 4,200 kilograms—by Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan. Amit Shah’s upcoming visit follows his previous visit to the Rajarajeswara Temple in 2017, when he was serving as the BJP national president. During that visit, he performed the temple’s chief ritual offering, the Suvarna Kumbham (Golden Pot), during his darshan...////...
