Chennai, Sep 13 (Reporter) Amid reports of senior leader and Union Finance Minister Ms Nirmala Sitharaman allegedly humiliating the owner of a popular chain of restaurants in Coimbatore, BJP Tamil Nadu Unit President K Annamalai tendered his sincere apologies for the actions of his party functionaries and sought to lay the matter to rest with due respect. In a social media post from UK, where he is pursuing a three-month course, Mr Annamalai on Friday evening said he spoke to Mr Srinivasan, the owner of the Annapoorna chain of restaurants and expressed regret for unintended breach of privacy. "On behalf of BJP Tamil Nadu, I sincerely apologise for the actions of our functionaries who shared a private conversation between a respected business owner and our Hon.Fin Minister", he said. "I spoke with Thiru Srinivasan Avl, the esteemed owner of the Annapoorna chain of Restaurants, to express regret for this unintended breach of privacy", he wrote. Mr Annamalai said "Annapoorna Srinivasan Anna is a pillar of Tamil Nadu's business community, contributing significantly to the state's and nation's economic growth". "I request everyone to lay the matter to rest with due respect", he said. Earlier Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge slammed Ms Nirmala Sitharaman for allegedly humiliating a shop owner in Coimbatore of Tamil Nadu. “The disgraceful humiliation of a small businessman, the owner of Sree Annapoorna restaurant in Coimbatore by the Finance Minister and the BJP, smacks of arrogance of power.
