Ahilya Mata Showed the Path of Public Welfare through Good Governance: CM Dr. Yadav

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that Lokmata Ahilyabai set an ideal example of national development by promoting public welfare through good governance. She commissioned the construction of dharamshalas, river ghats, community kitchens, and temples across India. She also had temples built in Varanasi and Somnath. The Maheshwari sarees introduced under her patronage remain renowned to this day. In her memory, a Cabinet meeting will be held in Indore on May 20.

Dr. Yadav addressed a public gathering in Kanadia, Indore, during the inauguration of the restored stepwell originally constructed centuries ago by Ahilya Mata. The restoration was undertaken under the Jal Ganga Sanvardhan Abhiyan. On this occasion, the Chief Minister participated in a community labour drive (shramdaan) for deepening a local pond and administered a pledge to conserve water.

The event was attended by Urban Administration and Housing Minister Shri Kailash Vijayvargiya, Water Resources Minister Shri Tulsiram Silawat, Member of Parliament Shri Shankar Lalwani, Mayor Shri Pushyamitra Bhargava, MLA Smt. Malini Gaur, Golu Shukla, and other public representatives.

Paying tribute to the martyrs who laid down their lives for the nation’s security, Dr. Yadav praised the Indian Army's commendable efforts under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He highlighted that India’s economy has now become the fourth-largest in the world. He emphasised that the soldier on the border and the farmer in the field are equally vital for the nation. The government is continuously working for the welfare of farmers by implementing river-linking projects to improve irrigation, providing electricity connections at subsidised rates, and ofering grants for solar pump installations. Farmers can now generate electricity and sell the surplus to the government, eliminating their electricity bills.

Dr. Yadav also emphasised woman empowerment as a top priority for his government. He shared that in Indore district alone, 2, 03,395 girls have benefited from the Ladli Laxmi Yojana and 4,48,398 women from the Ladli Behna Yojana. The state government will ensure, there is no shortage of funds for the Ladli Behna scheme.
