Bulawayo, Jan 2 (Reporter) Day 1 of the second Test between Afghanistan and Zimbabwe at the Queens Sports Club was delayed due to persistent rains, but once play got underway, Zimbabwe's bowlers bundled out Afghanistan for a modest 157 here on Thursday. Spearheaded by Newman Nyamhuri and Sikandar Raza, Zimbabwe's bowlers dominated the Afghanistan batting line-up, which collapsed in just over a session and a half. The pitch offered ample seam and spin movement, which the hosts exploited to great effect. Nyamhuri was instrumental in Afghanistan's downfall, taking key wickets, including that of Hashmatullah Shahidi, dismissed LBW for 13. Raza and Richard Ngarava also claimed important scalps, removing Rahmat Shah and Afsar Zazai. Blessing Muzarabani, along with the other pacers, was effective as well, picking up the wickets of Rashid Khan (25) and Shahidullah Kamal (12). A brief resistance came from Fareed Ahmad (17), but Nyamhuri wrapped up the innings by dismissing Fareed, caught by Brian Bennett. Afghanistan was all out for 157 in just 44.3 overs. Zimbabwe’s reply started in fading light, with openers Joylord Gumbie (4*) and Ben Curran (1*) negotiating three overs to close the day at 6/0. They trail by 151 runs and will look to build on their promising start (tomorrow) on Friday. Brief scores: Afghanistan: 157 all out in 44.3 overs; Zimbabwe: 6/0 in 3 overs (Ben Curran 1*, Joylord Gumbie 4*); Day 1 Stumps: Zimbabwe trail by 151 runs...////...
