Abhishek Manu Singhvi files nomination for Rajya Sabha from HP

Shimla, Feb 15 (Reporter) Congress party official nominee noted Supreme court lawyer and former Rajya Sabha member Abhishek Manu Singhvi filed his nomination for Rajya Sabha elections from Himachal Pradesh on Thursday. Singhvi filed his nomination at before the returning officer and Vidhan Sabha Secretary Yashpal Sharma. Since Congress has 40 seats in the Vidhan Sabha, Singhvi would be elected if cross-voting did not happen,Political observers said here. BJP Candidate Harsh Mahajan also filed his nomination for the Rajya Sabha. According to the notification of the Election Commission, the scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on February 16. The last date for withdrawal of candidates is February 20. Voting will be held on February 27 and the result will be declared by late evening on the same day. Leader of Opposition and senior BJP leader Jairam Thakur criticised the Congress for nominating a person for the Rajya Sabha election who fought against the interest of the state in the court...////...
