New Delhi, Feb 2 (Reporter) Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Sunday slammed both the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) accusing them of neglecting the issue of women
safety and talking about it only during elections.
Addressing a public meeting at Babarpur here, Priyanka said, "Now that elections are near, both the AAP and BJP have remembered women. But in the last 10 years, there was never any talk about women's safety".
Lashing out at AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal for making false allegations against former Chief Minister of Delhi Sheila Dikshit, Priyanka Gandhi said that "Women were infact very safe during her rule while, they are today scared, concerned about their safety and are nervous to go out alone".
Accusing both the AAP and BJP leaders of coming among the public only during elections, the Wayanad MP alleged that, "They come during elections, tell their views, but never talk about the public".
She said, "Both Narendra Modi and Arvind Kejriwal blame each other and call themselves honest. And you all know very well that both of them are not honest. They finish their election campaign blaming each other and not talking about the issues of public".
Priyanka also slammed the Prime Minister for accusing her mother (Sonia Gandhi) of insulting the President of the country and "making an issue out of nothing".
She said, "Modiji said that my mother has insulted the President. Think about it, what kind of issue is this?"
"An elderly woman expressed her sympathy towards another elderly woman and said that the President had to read a speech for an hour; she must be tired. But Narendra Modi and BJP made
it an election issue," she said.
The Congress leader said, "The public is struggling with inflation, there is nothing to eat, there is no employment, people are troubled, but the government is just talking nonsense," she said.
Meanwhile, addressing an election rally at Seemapuri, Priyanka said that "Only awareness will save the Constitution and democracy" and she had come to make them aware about this.
"The more aware and strong you become, the more the country will rise. I urge you to vote for your own well-being," she said to the people of Delhi...////...
