Lucknow, Aug 22 (Reporter) Eight convicts were sentenced to life imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 11 lakh by a CBI special court in Lucknow on Thursday in connection with the murder of a businessman, an official said. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) spokesman said that it was alleged that on February 1, 2017 evening Shrawan Sahu was shot dead by two persons while he was sitting at his shop at Bara Chauraha in Saadatganj area of Lucknow. He said that during investigation, it was revealed that accused Akeel Ansari had earlier approached the deceased Shrawan Sahu to compromise for not pursuing the case of murder of his son Ayush Sahu but the deceased did not agree after which accused Akeel Ansari started threatening the deceased. The spokesman said that in order to eliminate the deceased, accused Akeel Ansari gave contract to kill Sahu to the shooters of Munna Bajrangi Gang but could not succeed. In 2016 after Diwali, accused Akeel Ansari hatched a criminal conspiracy with accused Satyam Patel, Aman Singh, Ajay Patel, Rohit Mishra, Vivek Verma, Babu Khan and Faisal at the residence of co-accused Satyam Patel at Indira Nagar. Thereafter, recce of the house and the shop of the deceased was done. He said that on February 1, 2017, accused Satyam Patel alias Rockey and Aman Singh reached the shop of the deceased at around 8 pm on the motorcycle of Vivek Verma. Accused Satyam Patel alias Rockey entered the shop and fired 5 bullets at the deceased. After killing, both the accused escaped to Delhi. Their clothes were recovered from the house of co-accused Ajay Patel. The said motorcycle was recovered at the instance of co-accused Vivek Verma. Accused Satyam Patel alias Rockey and Aman Singh were arrested on February 9, 2017. Thereafter, on February 16, 2017, one revolver with five empty cartridges and one live bullet were recovered from accused Satyam Patel and one pistol and two live bullets in magazine were recovered from accused Aman Singh. After investigation, the CBI filed charge sheet on May 9, 2017 against accused Akeel Ansari, Satyam Patel alias Rocky, Aman Singh, Ajay Patel, Rohit Mishra and Vivek Verma and supplementary chargesheet was also filed on September 30, 2020 against accused Babu Khan and Faisal alias Bablu. The spokesman said that after trial the court found the accused guilty and accordingly sentenced them to life imprisonment and fine.
