Port-au-Prince, Feb 8 (Reporter) Five members of Haiti's Security Brigade for Protected Areas (BSAP) have died and three others have been detained in clashes with law enforcement forces in the Laboule neighborhood of Port-au-Prince amid nationwide protests demanding the resignation of the incumbent prime minister, Haitian newspaper Le Nouvelliste reported, citing a police source. Several thousand protesters demanding that Prime Minister Ariel Henry step down started their rallies across Haiti on Monday, on the eve of February 7, the date by which the politician promised to resign in a 2022 agreement with political parties. The riots in the capital region and across the country are intensifying and resulting in paralysis of cities, civilian deaths, looting of government offices and municipal institutions, the newspaper reported.
