4 temple thieves held in Punjab, 3.6 kg silver seized

Chandigarh, Aug 22 (Reporter) In a major breakthrough, Punjab Police have arrested four interstate thieves who stole deity’s ornaments from Shivpuri Temple in Khanna town on August 15 and recovered 3.63 kg silver items from them, an official said on Thursday. Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said Khanna police cracked the theft case by arresting members of the interstate gang targeting religious places, including temples and gurudwaras. Those arrested have been identified as Resham Singh alias Rinku of Sindhi Jhala, District Udham Singh Nagar in Uttrakhand, Ravi Kumar of Mahindpur in Ropar, Honey of Mahindpur in Ropar and Rajeev Kumar alias Soni of Kumarapuram in Lucknow (UP). He said preliminary investigations have revealed that the gang was planning robberies in temples of Tamil Nadu and Telangana.
