Nandurbar, April 23 (Reporter) Three employees of a forest department were injured when a timber smuggler attacked them at an illegal timber factory in Waghda village of Navapur taluka of Nandurbar district on Tuesday.
Forest department officials said based on a tip-off, the divisional forest officer vigilance, Nandurbar and the police jointly raided Rajendra Prabhakar Vasave alias Raju Band in the Wagdi forest area. Three forest employees were injured when Vasave attacked the forest guards with an axe.
The police later arrested the accused along with his three accomplices.
Teak, khair, sesame, ready-made furniture, machinery required for making furniture in large quantities and illegally stored saw machines were found in the possession of the accused. The estimated value of the seized goods is Rs 50 lakh, officials said.
The action was taken as per the provisions of Indian Forest Act 1927 and was executed under the guidance of the Conservator of Forests Dhule Regional, superintendent of police Nandurbar, deputy conservator of forests Nandurbar region and divisional forest officer vigilance Dhule...////...
