Darbhanga, May 15 (Reporter) The District and Sessions Court here on Wednesday awarded rigorous life imprisonment to 13 men in connection with separate cases. Additional Sessions Judge Suman Kumar Diwakar awarded imprisonment to nine accused in connection with kidnapping of Raman Kumar Thakur alias Chunnu Thakur, a goldsmith at Sinhwada market under the same police station area, and also slapped a fine of Rs 11 lakh under various sections of Indian Penal Code. As per details of the case, the kidnappers had abducted the goldsmith and had demanded Rs five crore for releasing him. An FIR (first information report) was lodged at Sinhwada police station in January 2020 in this connection. Later, police arrested abductors and rescued the goldsmith from their clutches. While hearing a murder case, the Judge awarded rigorous life imprisonment to four accused and slapped a fine of Rs one lakh on each of them. As per details of the case, accused had murdered one Mohammad Salim of Kathalbadi Bhandar Chowk under University police station area on night of December 23, 2022.
