11 people killed in E. Ethiopia road accident

Addis Ababa, Jan 15 (Reporter) At least 11 people were killed and 12 more injured in a road accident happening Sunday in eastern Ethiopia's Somali Region, local authorities confirmed. The accident occurred when a freight truck collided head-on with a mini-bus Sunday in the Fafan zone of the Somali Region, leaving 11 dead and 12 others injured, state-affiliated Fana Broadcasting Corporate (FBC) quoted local officials as saying. Local officials said the 12 injured are currently receiving medical treatment in nearby health institutions. The police are presently investigating the possible causes of the accident. Although the East African country has one of the lowest per capita car ownership rates in the world, deadly traffic accidents are relatively common. The blame is often put on bad roads, reckless driving, lax enforcement of safety rules, and a flawed system for issuing driving licenses...////...
