Colombo, July 17 (Reporter) Around one million new voters out of the total 17.1 million eligible voters are expected to take part in the next Presidential poll in Sri Lanka, a senior Election Commission official said on Wednesday. According to the constitution, the Election Commission is likely to announce the election date before the end of this month, a Sri Lankan new portal, EconomyNext, reported. “There are around 200,000 voters get registered as new voters every year. We last had elections in 2019, and from then, there have been around one million new voters registered,” Saman Sri Ratnayake, Commissioner General of Elections, told EconomyNext.
