Kangra (Himachal Pradesh), June 13 (Reporter) A 60-year-old woman pilgrim was killed and six others, including two children, were injured when a van carrying seven pilgrims belonging to one family from Mathura in Uttar Pradesh rolled down into a 100-foot deep gorge on Kangra-Shimla Highway on the outskirts of Kangra town on Thursday, police said.
Station House Officer Kangra police station Sanjeev Kumar said a group of pilgrims belonging to one family was on its way to Bajjreshwari temple , one of the 52 Shakti Peeths, to pay obeisance there when the van rolled down into the gorge near Kali temple at Kangra-Shimla Highway. He said that the injured were rushed to Tanda medical college where they were under treatment.
Dr Vivek Banyal, Medical Superintendent Tanda Medical College, told UNI that the hospital received 7 injured pilgrims -- two men, two children and three women . He said Hardei , a 60-year-old pilgrim, died in the hospital during the treatment late night.
Police have registered a case against the van driver...////...
