Sydney, May 28 (Reporter) One person has died and another is unaccounted for after a house fire in Sydney's inner-western suburbs.
Police of Australia's state of New South Wales (NSW) said in a statement on Wednesday that emergency services responded to reports of the fire in Croydon, eight kilometers west of central Sydney, shortly after 4 a.m. local time on Wednesday.
The statement said that the body of a person was located inside the home after fire and rescue crews extinguished the fire, which caused extensive damage.
Fire and rescue Superintendent Adam Dewberry told reporters at the scene that a second occupant of the home is unaccounted for and that collapsed sections of the roof were making it difficult to complete a search of the property.
"Firefighters have gained access to the home and conducted a search, however they did have to withdraw due to the intensity of the fire and a roof collapse starting to occur," Dewberry said.
Police established a crime scene at the property and have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fire...////...
