Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav on Monday flagged off a fleet of free hearse vehicles from his residence under the new initiative launched by the Public Health and Medical Education Department. These vehicles have been dispatched to various districts across the state. CM Dr. Yadav said the free hearse service is being launched with the values of humanity and service, particularly to assist the underprivileged and those in need. Under this initiative, two vehicles have been allocated to each district hospital, while four vehicles have been provided to districts with medical colleges, making a total of 148 vehicles operational across the state.

This facility will ensure that the mortal remains of the deceased can be transported with dignity to their destination. The service will be available 24x7, and the presence of drivers will be ensured. These vehicles will be used only in cases of death at government medical institutions run by the state.

CM Dr. Yadav emphasised that the government has launched several public welfare schemes, and this free hearse service is a sensitive and significant initiative underlining the state’s commitment to service.
